Can you ID this anemone?

Can you guys positively ID this anemone for me? It was sold at the LFS under the pretext of being a pink tip bubble anemone. were they trying to say bubble tip? Ive seen green bubble tip anemones and it looks similar, it has green tentacles and it does have subtle pink tips, and it also has a purple/violet base. I actually got it for $19 so if it is a bubble tip i might go and get the other one they had if its still there too, it looked to be a split and there were kind of buried under all the nice 120$ RBTAs. i would like to have a little colony of bubble tips in the empty corner of my tank. If it helps.....there was a orange skunk clown hosting in them a the lfs.

only thing is that it didnt have the "bubble" tips they are known for, but i know they dont always have those all the time, depending on the specimen.

ps...dont mind the other nem in the top corner. I got that one from my other tank which semi "crashed" and i pulled it out and am trying to nurse it back to health in my main display. Both are eating everyday , and even the bleached one eats atleast once a day, today it ate twice (hopefully it will recover faster with more frequent feedings)

Thanks, i was hoping so. I did feed it today though and still no bubble tips. Not that it makes a difference to me or not but im just wondering why and making sure its not stress related? Thanks

They don't just dye the base. I think dyed anemones are usually the same color all over, which is a bit of a giveaway.

No one really knows why they bubble, but I think it's a bit unusual for them to maintain bubble tips in captivity. Don't worry.

That one has a similar colored base to my old one (( sold it, was getting too darn big ))

If you look closely you can see the base of me. Picture was taken with a flash that brought out more of the color.

I have never seen a BTA with a purple base naturally. Do we think its dyed?

This one isn't dyed, that is its actual color. The purple-based ones aren't terribly common, so that is understandable.

Looks like you have a beautiful specimen, blackthunda77. You too, Toddrtrex--sorry you had to get rid of it.

Thanks, it was a tough call to see it, but even after it cloning itself it was still the same size. I am guess at least 15" across when I sold it. But, the clarkii pair are just as happy in my Haddoni.

Good to see you around again, seems like its been a while.

Same color

Same color

I picked up one of these purple base GBTAs like a month ago.

It was completely bleached in the tentacles and the base was a faint purple. Now the base if deep purple and the tents are dark green..

Fastest i have a seen a bleeched nem color up. It eats like a champ, no holds bars. equal oppurtunity eater.....

cool, well if it truly is a bubble tip and since the purple base ones seem to not be too available, maybe ill stop by and pick up the other one. Seems to have been a clone, and for $20 thats a bargain to me. Thanks for all the help.

Thanks. ill try to feed it as much as possible right now since its new, and until it gains some strength. Plus id like it to host with a pair of clowns later on so feeding it should make it grow faster since its only about 4-5 inches right now
