Can you please recommend a Tunze setup for my 190 gallon.

Hello, I am intersted in getting a Tunze system going on my 190 gallon tank, but not sure what to get. The dimensions of my tank are 67" long X 24" wide X 27" deep. I currently have a 6" (all Southdown) deep sand bed with approx. 400 pounds of live rock. My tank is acrylic with a built on overflow box, and the water gets returned back to the tank about 1" below the water line. I hope to add 1 or 2 sea swirls to this return. I would greatly appreciate your advice on what model Tunze's I should get, and how many I will need. I am hoping I can accomplish this without creating a sand storm. Thank you very much in advance.

Mike:)

Two 6000 pumps, one on each end, with a mulicontroller and 1 1" or 3ß4" seaswirl wöuld work very well.

Hi Rvitko and thank you for your response. I noticed that you recommended that I go with the model 6000 pumps and not the model's 6080 or 6100. I was just wondering why it is that you recommend that I go with the small pumps over the larger ones such as the 6080 or 6100. Is it that they have to much flow for my size tank and its conditions. Thanks alot and hope to hear back from you soon.

The 6080 cannot be controlled so if it doesn't work you are SOL. If it wasn't for the DSB and you wanted all high flow acros, I could recommend the 6100, also an electronic adjustable pump. The 6000 though will work for sure. If you find they are not strong enough, it will cost about $75 to convert them to a 6100- you only change the transformer. I think this means you will pay about $10 more than if you just buy the 6100 to begin with. Maybe post in the Reef discussion section- some really famous people have this set and you may be interested to hear what they say. The 6000 is going to be my rcommendation- a pair with the multicontroller. Sea Swirls are great for creating even more randomness and Ed is a great guy.

Thanks for your fast responses Rvitko. I will take your advice.:)
Also, another question that I have is that I have been searching places that sell your products and I havent been able to find any place that offers a 6000 kit which comes with 2 6000 pumps and the multi controller. Is this offered anywhere? If not, and if I do have to but everything seperately, what will be the best and cheapest way to go about getting this type of kit or combination. Not that it matters, but I live in Michigan. Thanks again,
Mike

Our price structure allows every dealer to buy at the same price. A LFS should be able to match internet pricing. Preuss Animal House in Lansing stocks and uses Tunze products. They have only recieved two 6010 pumps and multicontrollers are in short supply but this will change soon. Their is no kit for two pumps but if you look at the pricing you will see kits offer no discount, it is only for ordering convenience, having built a kit myself yesterday, i frankly can't believe they aren't more expensive. Their are nearly 4.5 manhours in a kit TS24. While I was soldering a controller the electrician quoted the price of every component and I couldn't believe it. For me their is no further mystery of why they cost so much.
