I want to put mine on a timer to turn on for 1 min and then off for like 7-8 min, will it hurt them?
i have a multicontroller, but i can not do this with that
i want to simulate a surge .. any thoughts roger?

You just have one pump? A multicontroller should be able to do this. What model 7094 or 7095? How old are the pumps?

You could use Interval 1 to turn them off but only 2 would be off at a time.

The danger is that when using a timer fish care would not work and so a fish or snail could enter and be killed/ break the drive unit. The drive unit will wear out faster and the pumps will foul with lime faster. The ideal is to never stop them. If you will use a timer my advice is to upgrade them to the newer 6***.70 drive units that don't have so many parts and this way the brake shoes won't wear out.
