Can you recommend a tang for me?

I have a 105 gallon tank lightly stocked. Shrimp orange spotted goby pair. Starry Benny, blue neon goby and 1 common clown percent or osc not sure which.
I have a sailfin tang that is going to the fish store today. Was talked into it at another fish store and it has doubled in size and I since researched that it needs a bigger tank.

Bottom line I want and need a replacement tang as I enjoy the algae control. Please recommend ant tang you think would be a good fit and could live out its life in my 105 tank? Not worried about cost just want 3 or 4 suggestions so u can go research them.

Thanks!

The majority of us can't house these tangs properly... A 105 might not be ideal, but it probably beats that holding tank at the LFS... Kole...

I would say powder blue or blonde naso, they are long distance swimmers but they should do fine in your tank

And I vote absolutely NO for a tang other than one of the Bristletooth's. I have a Tomini in my 120 DT (same footprint, 24" tall). IMHO, none of the others are even close to suited for a 4' tank.

And a HUGE Kudo to you for recognizing that the Sailfin was poorly suited and rehoming it before disaster struck.

I strongly disagree.

I have a kole tang that's lots of fun. They are fine for a 105, and they are relatively hardy as far as diseases go, and relatively peaceful (most tangs will get fiesty but some are better than others, so it's a good idea to add them last). Yellow and tomini tangs would probs work too, but I never tried one myself.

One thing to watch out for is the starry blenny. My kole doesn't like my starry much, I guess cause they are close in coloration but mostly I think cause he sees the starry eating algae. The tang will furiously swim all the way across the tank to chase the starry off my algae clip.

I agree, go with a Tomini. Hands down my absolute favorite tang. One of the best algae eaters too, as they are part of the Ctenochaenus genus.

You do realize that these fish are screwerd one way or the other though, right? Giving up the hobby is probally the best bet.

I wouldnt say that, with the right space, filtration, lighting and flow, you can keep them all happy, ive had fish for years that played with one another and had a very happy behavior pattern

Good input. I am researching yellow eye kole, bristle tooth tomini, two spot bristle tooth, square tail bristle tooth and if my wallet can bare it white tail bristle tooth. I have read elsewhere that the yellow eye and the starry might not get along odd as my current sailfin and starry swim together at the moment. But like I said my new fish store said they would take him in and give me a couple bucks store credit. So hoping they can find me one of the above once I decide which to go with.

Absolutely no for a Blonde Naso. I have a regular Naso in my 300 and I still think my tank is too small even at 8 feet long. I would say a Yellow or maybe a Kole. Still, a 4 foot tank is the best for any tang.

there is a big difference between a 150 long and a 110.
tomini is my vote and only because they stay small and the examples i've seen seem relatively peaceful.

All those are awesome for your size tank, and they are all great fish. Pictures usually don't do these guys justice.

i have a kole tang in my 75g and he's a model citizen. keeps algae under control, gets along well with others although i have seen him chase the wrasses around occasionally (no contact, just a quick chase). beautiful fish!
