Can you remove your sump?

I was just wondering if anyone here has a sump that they can not removed from your stand witout taking it apart.

Once I finish building my stand and put the sump in, I don't think I can get it out with out taking the stand apart. Is this going to be a major problem?

What other problems other than sump leaking?

Thanks

New to the hobbie but I wouldn't think you would want to do that. Obviously you are going to need good access to it but what if it cracked or needed to be removed you wouldn't want to break everything down if you didn't need to. Since you are building your stand can't you somehow build that into it...

mine has to be removed to get some of the equipment out and to clean out the sand build up once in awhile. i would guess as long as you had enough room on top to get everything out you wouldnt need to remove it. but i would still say dont make the stand where you cant remove the sump because you just never know what could happen.

I think you will find that many people who have their sump in the cabinet under their display tank are in the same situation.

Me, I had to remove the top center brace of my stand in order to drop the 30g tank in that I use for the sump. The only way it is coming back out is if I tear down my display tank so I can take it off the stand to pull the sump back out the top. I have not had any problems with it so far.

Now since you are building your own stand I would set it up so you had an access door on either one of the sides that the sump could fit through, that way if needed you can just slide the sump out the side.

This is a corner tank. I do not have the luxury of side excess. I do have a door that I can excess to maneuver and remove the skimmer. I guess I can make the whole front so I can pull out if I must. That would mean added support else where.
But the sump is triangular and a perfect fit without an inch to spare.

Back to the drewing board *sigh*

I canââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t get mine out, itââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s way to big. I had to put it in through the top before I installed the tank. I havenââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t had a problem in over five years.

I have a 30g in my 75g stand and I can not get it out. It's a pain to work as well but it's worked great so far.

I had to lower my 20L sump down through the top as well. I Am getting ready to bring my new basement sump online and I am either going to have to smash or cut the 20 apart to get it out now!
