Your right, I used to see them in almost every mini colony as well. Loved when those little guys would fight for territory. It was kind of nice to see, but then again with the red bug and flatworm scare, dipping corals is common, maybe that's why now? The dips would kill the little guys. I don't know, maybe more distributors are taking closer precautions than before and in turn you loose some of the little surprise benefits.

I have no way of proving this, but I've read that MWCF dips their corals to remove pests, but puts the acro crabs back on to the corals.

Makes sense, it's not difficult to get them off, then after the dip let them return to the colony. It seems like a lot of extra work for them though.

I actually got my first SPS yesterday and dipped it in "Coral Revive" for 5-10 minutes..

When it was time to take the SPS out of the bag and into the tank I noticed a tiny crab frantically running around. Luckly ive done alot of reading before getting into the hobby and knew that he was a bonus... so i quickly placed him in some clean tank water and let him rest..

AS of this morning he is back on his branch cleaning up...

Pretty excited... especially since there is also a muscle/clam in the SPS too...

You still see them all the time on wild pieces and they are common on maricultured too. I think you don't see them as much anymore since aquaculture is filling a larger role in the hobby than it used to.

:hmm6: In it or on the rock it came with?

Its between the branches... Contimplating if i should take it out... as im not sure what will happen when it grows

Looks more like your typical grocery store muscle, but very long and skinny
