Can you treat only some of the fish for Ich?

I got a 120 couple monthes old,Live rock,gorgonians,couple zoas,lots and lots of inverts, 5 jawfish,2 damsels,4 neon gobies,1 royal gramma.The neons and the gramma are the only ones to get ich.the gramma will have it then you wont see it for a week then it shows back up.the others dont seem to get it except the gobies always havea spot or two.ive seen once or twice on the jawfish.Problems is i dont know how i can cath all these gusy without taking everything out.The gramma and gobies i can get no problem.So if i take them out and treat them.are they going to get ich when i stick them back in the tank???

When your dealing with ich your goal is to kill each one of the buggers .. that means all the ich on the fish and all the ich in the tank. That usually means treating all of the fish and leaving the show tank w/o fish for 5-6 weeks.

Treating a fish to place it back into an ich infested tank seems like a futile excercise to me.

only thing to add; is if you only intend on keeping small fish like you have now, you may be able to avoid directly treating if fish do not show signs of distress. whether this will work out or not will most likely depend on the severity of the c.irritan strain you have encountered.

I plan on getting a Blue girlded angel once my tanks a little more,established.Im thinking now what to do as i only have a 12gal hos tank and i cant see putting all these fish in there for 2 monthes even if i catch them.

you'd probably want to attempt to eradicate the parasite prior to stocking the tank.

so this would mean keeping fish out for 6 weeks correct? the problem i have with that is im not sure where id put the fish for that time i have a 12 gal hospital.
