Can your hammer do this?

Reef Bass

Appears to me as though one of the tentacles is hyper inflated. I've heard of this happening but never seen it.

Usually happens when whites go off or all lights are off and your coral is very happy. My hammer just started doing this also.

Thanks JoshuAcOOk and AquariumMan.

Biocubehqi, I use a Canon EOS 50D with Canon 100mm macro lens. The key to accurate colors under high color temperature lighting is to shoot in RAW mode and to set the white balance during post processing.

sponger0, thanks for the info. I did feed it the morning before I took this picture.

RandysReef, hmm. I see the picture.

Thanks for the feedback and kind words gentlemen. I am glad to hear that tentacle inflation / bubble blowing by hammers is not a sign of impending doom. ;)

Question - has anyone noticed how to influence the color ratio on bicolor hammers? When I got this hammer over a year ago, it had two branches and only one branch had heads with green tipped tentacles . That has continued to this day where all new heads have followed that pattern.

Hammer corals are Euphyllia anchora. They are available in different colors.

The frag in your pic looks like a young hammer to me.

It is, I got it as a frag with two heads about a month ago and it now has 3.

Whats the difference between Euphyllia anchora and Euphyllia parancora. I thought Parancora were "branching" hammers which I thought was mine.
