Canary Blenny behavior

Have you ever had one of these?

I got one while at the club meeting at AC. I'd seen him there for weeks, at least two...and decided he was healthy enough, so what the heck.
Anyway...I never see the little guy. I'd almost decided he didn't make it and had passed on to that great reef tank in the sky, when low and behold, he made a brief appearance.

He's cute, but very shy.

My midas blenny was very shy when I first got him... I'd be willing to bet you he's hiding in a hole in your live rock...
As most blenny's do... I ended up drilling a hole in my LR so he could find a home where I could see him...
Its the same as if you were trying to drill a hole for a frag plug... You don't want it too deep though...
Or perhaps you could rearrange your rockwork if thats not too much of a problem... He has two holes that he frequents...
He mostly free swims now, but if someone walks by or something startles him, back to the hole he goes...
Here are a few pics... Hope this helps!!!

I remember you....Chris was helping you. I was the guy who asked if they were venomous, and after asking that, I felt like an idiot......yet, here's where I saw it.

If attacked by other fish, the Canary Blenny will retaliate by biting the inside of the mouth of the attacker. The Canary Blenny is considered venomous and should be kept only with caution around children having tank access since it may perceive fingers as an attacker and deliver a similarly painful bite.

Interesting.
I'm hoping he gets used to his new home...he's too colorful to stay in hiding all the time.

ct_vol - thanks, for chiming in...nice pics of your midas blenny. I love his color, especially the blue around the eyes

fan - I too remember you, you knew what you were talking about, let's just hope this little guy keeps his fangs to himself
