I have some candies in my tank that from time to time appear to loose their color...some are rather hi in the tank...is too much light a problem with this type of corals?

Thanks for the replies...

Neon green didn't lose color in low light in my tank, only slow growth.
The pale one, whitish-brownish with hint of cold green if contracted, likes good light and grow fast, but I never seen them having better color, always drab.
Bi-color, green center, brown perimeter, thick skeleton - likes light too, and I suspect, that prefers the cleaner water.

On another hand, the bleaching could be caused by too much light, or by stress, if there are aggressive corals around.
Just a thought.

I certainly have had some candy canes bleach from too much light. Mine seem to like being high in the back corners of the tank where the lighting is indirect.

I moved some stuff around and created a candy forest on my sand floor...we havent seen the ginger bread man walking around but are awaiting his arrival...lol...sry couldnt resist the urge....will take a pic later today once lights come on..I also think them being fragged had some effect on them...will see.....

Too much light is probably the problem since candy canes do not like that much lighting, lower and give shade perhaps. Mine are near bottom under 216W of T5 and full with color.
