Keeping it Simple
Hey guys,
I just bought a frag of Candy Cane coral (or just a type of trumpet) about a week ago and I have a 12 inch tank. It hasn't been doing amazing, but it looks good. It's placed a little high I think. Anyway I have 160 w of PC (the tank is a 30 gal. breeder). Should I place it lower cause my other trumpet coral is lower and it's looking amazing. Any advice? Thanks for the help.

Thumbs up!

I would say to start it at the bottom and move it up. We had a candy cane coral in our 150, and it didnt like high light at all. At the time it was about half way up in the 150 under 400W halides. It grew, but didnt look as well as it did under VHOs only in the fuge. Now its back up in the 150 off to the side shaded pretty well against the halides. That being said, we have two others, one that seems to LOVE to be blasted by the halides, although in the bottom of the tank. Its still out in the open under the halides.

Mine are about dead center in my tank in full view of my 4x39W T5's. They didnt like it as much off to the side and hgher. experiment a little before cementing them down.

I have mine under 6 t5's in the middle. Just keep an eye on them and if they start bleaching lower them.
