Candy Cane Sweepers

I have a Candy Cane coral which I really like and it has really colored up and now it is sending out about 3" sweepers. I do have a nice piece of SPS that is also growing like a weed right next to it so I dont want the sweepers to damage it.

Can my candy canes (Caulastrea furcata) go next to trumpets (Caulastrea curvata)? Every website I read has differing opinions on how agressive these can be.

Pretty sure they can I have seen someone do it before same genus right. What I'm thinking if you can put different cap corals or dijitata next to each other you should be able to put them next to each other.

Yep, same Genus.

I've heard of some others doing it so im going to give it a shot and hopefully it will be ok. I know usually same genus's are safe but as with a torch coral and frogspawn you can never be sure, some have success, some dont.

I would not rely on same genus when locating corals. I've had Acanthastrea echinata absolutely destroy Acanthastrea lordhowensis. I'd bet money various Echinopora sp. and Echinophyllia sp. would gladly obliterate their same genus neighbor.
