Candy Coral Blobbing...

So, I have a candy coral in my 24 nano and we've noticed some interesting growth patterns here as of late. It started with one head sort of "merging" with the surrounding polyps. Now, all of the branches are starting to do this. It appears that all of the heads on each branch are converging into one big one on the end of each stalk. In case that ever so helpful description is less than clear, see the photo :)

Has anyone ever heard of this or actually had it happen in their tank? The coral is in the back of the tank about 3" from the surface. The first head started to do this when we had the stock light on the tank. We now have the viper halide on there now. Lighting may have absolutely nothing to do with it, but I'm just throwing it out there. Thoughts??

It looks like it might start dropping babies. Mine did something like it about a year ago and then I had tons of frags. Hope this helps

My parents have the same problem in there tank. My guess is that it is lighting because they run VHOs and only change out there bulbs every year or so. There candy coral has been like this for 3-4 years though and is still alive and growing, it just has that funky growth pattern.
