I have a magnum 350 canister filter sitting around and wondering if I can just use it as a gfo if I took out the fiber and just put phos media in the center?
Thanks
My concern would be too much flow for the gfo. If it tumbles too much it will grind itself to powder. Back on my 75 I used a reactor so I could dial it in so it just moved a tiny amount. Would be hard to dial in on the filter, probably. Would be great for carbon though.
I wouldn't even try to get it to tumble. In a canister you won't be able to see it in any case. Just put it in a mesh bag (I have a number of old chemipure bags I use) and put it in the canister between sponges or whatever and let it go to town.
