canned seafood??

I have read the forum on Eric's mash. He uses fresh seafood. I recently made a simple mash with frozen shrimp, canned oysters, and canned clams. The ingredients on the canned food were the seafood, water, and salt. What do you guys think of canned foods? I know fresh would be better but am I going to have any big problems? I only have a 29 gal with a few frags and some small fish. I only feed them a peice about the size of a dime 3-4 times a week. I switch out with bine, mysis, and others. My phosphates and nitrates are low but I will keep an eye on them. What do you think?

The salt is a preservative. If you're trying to improve their diet, I would stick with fresh or frozen. I doubt you'd do any real harm, but the benefit may not be there. I think if you ask politely at any seafood store or supermarket, you should be able to get what you need for minimal, if any cost.

D.Y.S.R. , I use cannad oysters and clams too. I roll it up in nori , from walmart. Been doing it for years. One tip don`t use anyting oily your skimmer will go NUT`S!

Thank you for the input. I tried canned for the first batch but ended up throwing it out anyways. I used gelatin to bind the food, which was a big mistake. I did not like the effects. I will try a new batch with all frozen. I am going to keep it simple too. Just a couple of ingredients. Shrimp, clams, mussles, and maybe some plankton or small food of some sort. Are there any musts that you guys recommend?
