well.... I'm pretty frustrated right now.. computers not being my forte, i was sold an apex junior because of how easy it would be to use...
shocker, i can't even get past the firmware update..
I'm using mac and have already created an account and connected my jr.
downloaded the apex firmware updating software and when my computer searches for my jr. it finds it.
i have the apex connected to the modem with a cable, i have my computer connected to the router with a cable with the wifi turned off..
dhcp is on..
when my laptop does its little search, it finds an apex but when i try to do the update, it asks for username and password which, when i enter the username and password i have created my account with, it doesn't accept it...

help me, obi wan! you are my only hope.......

The username and password are not necessarly the username and password you set up on Fusion. The default username and password for connecting directly to the Apex is:
Username: Admin
Password: 1234

Try that and report back. If that password doesn't work, then the person who sold you your Apex changed the default password and didn't reset it. If that above password doesn't work then I assume you bought this used. You should contact the person that sold it to you and ask him what the username and password is for the Apex. By the way, it helps to read the quickstart guide and the comprehensive manual.

Thank you that worked.
I got as far as I did by reading the instructions..
Now, in my apex display screen it says: Apex Fusion: ok
In the online apex jr. site, it says in order to link to apex fusion I need my link token by scrolling down to Apex fusion: link.
Mine says Apex Fusion: ok
Wondering what my next step is..
I did a restart..

Ok. I guess I'll try option two in the morning since I bought this apex junior from a store and it was in a sealed box..
Thanks....

Hang on - I may have misunderstood. Did you already Link the new Apex to your own APEX Fusion account? Do you have an Apex showing up when you login to APEX Fusion?

I don't think I have linked them, yet.
I tried but I am being asked for my link token which is supposed to appear in the dashboard. This is where I see it saying OK instead of a link token..

Matt ,

You have my cell give me a call, I just got a Apex Gold and can help you out a bit since Fusion is the same on all devices.

Thanks, Rob. I haven't gone to the link in option 2 of RussM's response , yet.
I'll try that, eventually and when I can't figure it out, I'll call you! :)

The Fusion status showing as OK means that the Apex is already linked to APEX Fusion. But that should not be if you didn't link it already yourself - not with a BNIB Apex from a LFS or online retailer. That is why I thought you bought a used one.

Go ahead and do that process I gave the link to. It will reset the Apex Jr to factory defaults; as part of that, any existing link to Fusion will be cleared.

Or you can open a support case with Neptune tech support and let them assist. https://www.neptunesystems.com/support/contact-support/

It seems like your Apex is still linked the the previous owner's APEX Fusion account. Two options:

1. get the previous owner to delete the Apex from his/her account.
2. follow the steps in the last section of this sticky on the Neptune System Community Forum. https://forum.neptunesystems.com/sh...APEX-Fusion-or-Delete-an-Authorized-Apex-User

Ok. So I have finally found the time to try to de link my brand new (and as far as I know, never been used) apex jr. Which I bought from a reputable dealer (reefsupplies in Montreal)..

At the bottom of the page on the link that was given to me above, it says:

'Do an Initialize All of the Apex using the classic web pages (Misc Setup page) or through the display module menu system.'

Already stumped.. When I go to 'system' and then 'misc setup' my choices are:
ProbeExp: off
Power Monitor: off

I haven't found an 'initialize all' option on the controller..............

I would try the classic web pages but I don't know what those are...

Using the display menu, it is System->Init Memory->All

The classic web pages are the ones in the Apex itself, which you can access my typing the IP address of the Apex in your web browser's address bar. The default username is 'admin', password '1234'

My question is when and if will the apex actually be full wireless?everytime there is an update my apex goes out and I have no control over anything and it can't even connect to the apex..the pain staking process of having to disable wifi on 8 devices ...download this and that...run this program and that program...download this firmware and that firmware..unplug the apex then plug it back in...it's such a hassle....and yet my ecotech reef link can update software, firmware and everything else wirelessly over my phone by just pushing a button...what happened to being in a wireless world and yet my apex still has to have a wire attached

everytime there is an update my apex goes out and I have no control over anything and it can't even connect to the apex

What exactly do you mean by this?

As for shutting down all of your W-iFi devices, you are mistaken; it is unnecessary to do that. The only requirement when doing a firmware update is that the Apex itself must be using a wired network connection to the router.

Using a wired network is always a pain for me as well. I thought neptune advertised that apex updated automatically whenever new update wa available.

It's APEX Fusion that does not require users to update it. It resides "in the cloud" so Neptune can update it to add new features and such to the Fusion interface without disruption or Apex users installing anything.

You still need to update the Apex with firmware yourself at times to use new modules and get corresponding new features which are implemented in the Apex itself.
