I'm hoping to buy a lens for the canon g5 I want to take pics of everything from a full close up of a single ricordia and a close up of a single zoo I'll be putting the coral right up against the glass

does anyone have any suggestion's on choosing a lens that is compatible and will give the best outcome with this camera

thanks

I dunno but here is a free bump
I would just use the stock lens with a G5...that isn't really a camera to buy lenses for. If you want to buy a lens buy a SLR, not a lens that is designed to work with a camera not designed to work with the lens.

So would this be the best I can probably get with a G5 would be to buy this:

Canon LADC58B Conversion Lens Adapter for G3 & G5 Digital Cameras
http://www.amazon.com/Canon-LADC58B-Conversion-Adapter-Digital/dp/B00007JDRT

and these lens:

and would the conversion lens adaptor allow me to stack all 4 lens together?

or do you think It's worth just going with this hi def + 10 lens?

http://cgi.ebay.ca/10x-Hi-Def-Pro-M...nses?hash=item45ee6700fa&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

and if I were to go with the hi def +10 lens would I need a adaptor or something?

I'm going the cheap route for now and know very little about camera's this will be my first camera later in a year I'm going to get a slr

this is the best shot I can get now with the crappy camera I have so any improvement will be nice

You can do better than that. That camera is far from being crappy. It was one of the best point and shoot cameras at the time it came out and i still think it can hold its own against what's out there today.

With those close-up filters you linked it will definitely magnify, however, your depth of field will be extremely narrow. I'm warning you now, if you can't even take a decent photo with the stock camera, you'll have an even harder time with those close-up filters attached. You'll end up getting very frustrated. Read the manual, learn how to manually focus (i also think there is a special magnification macro mode), use the custom modes (i.e. Av mode), get a tripod (even a cheap one is better than nothing), and read as much as you can on this forum.

Here is a shot i took with my G5 (without any filters):

Here's a few I have taken with my G5...
I think my favorite lens is the wide angle I bought. It has a 10X close-up lens attached to it and it will seperate so I can use it as a wide angle or a close-up lens.
Your pic is out of focus.... Did you use Macro setting? Did you manual focus?
The G5 is a great close-up camera!
