Has anyone use either of these cameras? I love the fact that they have an auto mode especially for shooting tank shots.

As a S3 IS user, I reviewed the new 5S. I am pretty sure there is no auto setting for taking any acceptable reef aquarium photos. I could be wrong of course....

I just checked thier websie. Here are the modes:

Shooting Specifications
Shooting Modes
Auto; Creative: P, Av, Tv, M, C; Image: Portrait, Landscape, Sports, Special Scene (Foliage, Snow, Beach, Fireworks, Aquarium, Indoor, Night Scene, Color Accent, Color Swap), Night Snapshot, Super Macro, Stitch Assist, Movie

So there is an aquarium mode. I dont know how good it is, but they have at least noticed that there was a demand for cameras that could take aquarium shots. That is pretty damn cool IMO.

I guess Aquarium is too broad:
-It could be set for freshwater tanks which are lit by different colour ligthing.
-even marine tanks can be lit by 10,14 or 10K MH or T5 or maybe just PC.
-Choice of Aperture and Shutter speed could vary if you are shooting fish or corals, if you are handholding or on tripod, or if you use flash or not. also it's up to you wether you want faster shutter to freeze the action or slower shutter to close the aperture and gain DOF
-wether flash is active in Aquarium modeor not depends on what you are shooting.
Guess there will always be lots of factors to manually set for any Aquarium setting to be efficient. I wouldn't consider this point if chosing a camera.

I agree with maroun.c. I wouldn't even consider it. Instead should on Av with a custom white balance, grab a tripod of needed and you're set. At least thats what I've found works the best.

Just because the S5's Aquarium mode might not be up to par, it does not mean its not a great camera. The S3 had a lot of success and I think that the S% should be a bit better. But check out reviews first.

Agreed - for the price a great camera. I am very pleased with my S3 IS.

As I said in my post this single point would not make me decide on getting this camera. Still that does not mean that its not a great camera.
