Canon=Windows?
Nikon =Mac?

More like
Canon = Solaris
Nikon = HP-UX

Two different flavors of the same thing...

Nope - Solaris is Unix.

HPUX is dead.

HPUX is dead.

HP-UX is still alive and kicking. We run it on our build clusters at work.

Not to argue with the omnipotent Unix overlord, but HP-UX is simply HP's prorietary implementation of Unix.

No offense fellas, AIX and HPUX are the dominant Unices in the industry today - any others have been effectively relegated to also ran status.
The only other player of note is Linux but that isn't technically UNIX. ;)

Cyrstal...First off, I dont know where you come from to call Apple Evil...and I know everyone has there own preferance. But Im sorry...Mac OS X is a millon times more stable then Windows XP ever will be. Im a professional photographer and ive used Mac and windows machines for photoshop. Mac wins hands down! Whats even more funny, is on the new mac book pros, you can run a program called Boot camp, which lets you boot your mac from either OS X or Windows XP. Consumer Reports did a study and found that Windows XP actually runs more stable on the Mac Book Pro!! Its superior equipment.

Now as far a cameras go. Ive been a Nikon user for over 20 years. But I will say Canon lenses are very good. Ive done professional video production using cannon L1's,L2's and XL1's. I was amazed at the optics in the cannon lenses! But Ive been using Nikon for so long, and it would be way to costly to switch. Plus Nikon Nikkor lenses are just as good, esp the DX lenses. So which ever you decide between Nikon and Cannon, you wont go wrong with either.

gatling gun??? what the heck is that??LOL!!!

EHHH are we talking hardware?? why, and how is the Mac Book better hardware?? and the big question is, better than what hardware?

Nikon Nikkor lenses are just as good

As good as what? Canon lenses???
SURE THEY ARE :lol:

Ummm lets see...You buy a Cheaply made PC and a year later...the thing
is super slow and works like crap. You buy a Mac and 3 years later it works
as good as it did the day you bought it..

SSBREEF As far as whats better cannon or nikon. Like I said, everyone has there own preference. Ive done high end Magazine photography for over 25 years (Rolling Stone,Spin, Entertainment Weekly, Playboy, Home & Design, Detroit Home...ect..) and Nikon Nikkor lenses have always given me extreamly sharp photos...Like I also mentioned in my last post. I think Cannon lenses are amazing too...

But hey what do I know.....

Far from the truth Animation, but here is a tip "It's not the camera, but the glass thats on it." For what the majority of people are using these cameras for both will do fine for your needs. Myself shooting auto racing photography,and college football for the past 20 years I'll stick with Canon and Canon L glass.

Oh, by the way Macs rule!

Yep Macs do Rule!!

Yes Cannon lenses are amazing. But using Nikon for over 25 years and having
thousands upon thousands of dollars in nikon equipment..and I honestly believe
Nikon Nikkor lenses are quality glass and produce professional results. It just would
not have made sense for me to switch over to cannon. If I was gonna do that..I
would switch to the $15,000 Mamiya ZD (22 megapixel) which I personally think
blows away cannon and nikon.

PC!???? what pc!! who made it????? dell?? acer? compaq?? is it a clone? What’s in it??? Cheap parts? or did you get the best? Just like everything else, you get what you pay for.
Most people going into MAC from "PC" PAID the minimum for their PC and expected the best. With MAC they had no choice but to buy a good " COMPUTER " because they couldn’t buy a clone. They got what was given to them. I work with both but prefer to work with PC. j
By the way my PC cost me as much as my MAC.

As for Lenses, WOW that’s some CV you got there. Very impressive! But that still doesn’t change the FACT that canon has the best .

Which is only as fast as the super slowed down PC. :)

Sorry, couldn't resist. Being a former netadmin with 6,000 Macs on my network, I can't stand Macs. I also recognize this is pretty much a religious debate. I've been around "your kind" for years. LOL. Those Mac people are freaks, waiting for Hale-Bop, or something. MacWorld was scary. They almost made me drink the Kool-Aid.

Seriously, yeah.. Macs work. But not for me. I've always felt they've had a better interface from an eye candy point of view, but there was never the horsepower to drive it. Being an auto racing person myself, I see the Mac as a heavy race car that desperately needs to be leaned down. All that weight makes it terrible in the corners. Nimble is out of the question.

Interesting where this thread has gone!

ST:TOS vs. ST:TNG?

If your experience with Macs involves anything older that 2 years old it's probably invalid. I still have DOS 1.0 discs in my closet, soldered together my own CP/M boxes in the 70s and make a very tidy sum in IT these days. I have to be highly proficient in many OS's but do all my work on OSX. Nothing else gives me the flexibility that I need. Windows is tired, old technology. It took them so long to get Windows 2004 out that they're still behind the curve. That's not just my opinion:

You can polish a turd and make it shiny but at the end of the day it's still a turd. ;)

Canon 0WNZ Yooz!

Jeez Loueez guys!
