Canon XTI Armor

I was looking at this in person for my camera. All it will do is provide shock absorption. It's by no means water proof and it will trap dust underneath it, causing scratching or penetration into the camera. Great for everyday bumps though!

My local camera store has that stuff on display. IMO it makes the camera look like crap and provides little, if any, protection.

I was looking at it to keep the camera it self in better condition. I don’t care how it looks, not taking pictures of the camera :). What does everyone use to protect there screen, One of the stick clear screen protectors? Also has anyone felt the armor. Does it provided better grip?

The camera will be fine without it. ;)

To protect my screen I don't bang my camera against stuff.

I use the clear plastic LCD screen protectors to prevent from accidental scratches like Beerguy said dont bang it around.

:D The more I read the more I find all the protection and armor stuff to be pretty much a personal opinion. None of it is going to be any lifesaver - if you want something that will really honestly help protect your camera and lens, look into a good neck strap and lens hoods for your lenses. Good neck strap will keep you from dropping your camera while also making it much more comfortable to use - and the lens hoods will help protect the front of your lens from getting dinged up and banged around while also helping with your pictures. Same with the screen protectors - I don't use them but also suppose can't hurt unless they make the screen hard to see. I just don't bang mine up against anything ;). And if it does get a few scratches on it? Big deal - all I'm checking on the LCD is settings, composition of the pictures, and histogram. If it does get really scratched up that I can't even do that effectively you can change the hard plastic piece that is on the back of your camera that covers the LCD fairly easily and cheaply (or so I'm told, I haven't actually looked into it because haven't needed to!).

I kind of like my scratched body... at least until it comes time to sell it.

It's waterproofing that I would like - which is why the XTi wasn't such a great choice.
