Canopy vs. Open top/ceiling hung lighting

After feeling for the look of my tank with and w/o the canopy, I'm leaning towards removing the DIY canopy. I have two 24" T5ho retro fitted within the canopy and was thinking of it being ceiling hung. The problem is that it is a retrofit lighting so I'd need to derive a way of making a sleek looking, pendent-like project for my T5s. Any advice on this is appreciated.

Also what I want to know is some personal opinions on canopy vs. no canopy/ceiling hung lighting.

Thanks

All i know is canopy=trap so fish don't jump out and place to put lighting in a clean way, hanging=takes up a relatively small space and does need fans to cool.

Also TEK has a really nice hanging mount for it (looks clean:D).

Well fish can still jump out the back since the canopy is wide open there. I just don't like the bulkiness of the canopy. It makes the whole tank look big piece of furniture in my living room which I dont prefer. And once I looked at it without the canopy I knew I had to keep it that way. But then again with a tall stand(35") the canopy evens out the size ratio b/w the 29g and the stand.

Most people that like the canopy is because they think it looks like a piece of furniture. I'm like you and don't want my tank to look like furniture, I want it to look like an aquarium. :)

I think one of the sexiest looks is the rimless cubes with a sleek hanging T5 fixture such as the ATI Powermodules.

Just took the canopy off of my 75. Used the legs for my tek 6 bulb set up. One thing I noticed is that I no longer have the temp. swings like I did with the canopy on. My temp stays at 80 degrees plus/minus .2 degrees
