very slow growing. searched all over google, could not find anything looking similar at all. any suggestions?

No, not codium. It looks like a type of bubble algae (Valonia), like Valonia utricularis or one of the other ones that are more elongated than round.

i doubt its valonia. it virtually does not grow any. whereas other bubble algae grows VERY rapidly. unless some valonia grows very very very slowly. it does look similar to codium, except that it isnt branching really

hmmm i still havent been able to find a proper image of it via google, even searching with valonia or bubble algae. dont suppose you have a species suggestion?

i was planning on removing it when i switch tanks in a week or so. its been in since i added that rinky dink zoo frag its on(tiny fire and ice, not the big ones) which was probably the better part of a year. but yea, guess its time for it to go. i have a friend that likes the look of it, guess ill see if he wants it lol

Be careful and remove all of it.

I'd cut it off and then vacuum up anything left and turn the current off when you do it. Good time for a partial water change.

Tag the area with some H2O2 etc.

Let it sit for 2-5 min, then restore current etc.
Some might need a good stiff wire brush to get it all off or a dental pick set etc.

Once you remove it, make sure to watch and attack any new growth in the following 1 month or so.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

im not really worried about it spreading given how long its been in the tank. i am upgrading to a 125 soon, so next time i do a wc i plan to just clip the whole end of that rock off. problem solved.

now if only i could get rid of the regular green valonia that pops up sporadically here and there lol i siphon it out each water change but its hard to get the holdfasts. cant wait til i move it over to the 125 and can chip rock off all the spots it grows lol
