Hater of Hair Algae
I've lost two fish this past week, all the symptoms match up with flukes and I want to get my three remaining fish in QT ASAP, what can I get besides Prazipro for Flukes?

You can order it from Drs Foster and Smith. Depending on where you are you can get it pretty quickly. I believe that there are other types of 'fluke' tabs you can get at chain pet stores, but I seem to remember there being issues with them, or not nearly as reliable.

Order it online, pay for 2 day shipping or something, it will make an impact in less than 24 hours if you truly have a fluke infestation.

Only problem with that is it's friday night, my order wouldn't ship until monday and wouldn't arrive until wednesday, which may be too late....

Have you tried any of the lfs's in Denver? I beleive that Neptunes usually carries it, you may try calling there if you havent already to check if your willing to make the drive.

I've thought about doing that, just have to see what happens with the snowfall tonight and tomorrow. Is Prazipro the only effective fluke treatment? in case the roads are bad this weekend.

Well i took the drive I picked up Prazipro, I'm now getting my QT set up.

I am curious tho about my clownfish's suceptibility of catching flukes, everything I've read discusses mostly tangs and angels, but I've yet to read about clowns infected with flukes? Are they resistant to flukes?

I added all three fish to QT and they looked fine, so I added my first dose according to the directions. The fish looked fine when I went to bed but this morning I noticed their fins were tattered, should I be concerned or is this from the flukes fighting the treatment???

Cant say for sure without pics, but it is possible if you had a bad fluke problem that you could see some issues as you descibed. I had this happen with a flame wrasse with flukes.

That being said, keep an eye out for seoncdary infections if the flukes leave a lot of open wounds.

Just watch em close.

If they do develop a secondary infection is there an antibiotic I can use with the Prazipro?

Also how long should I medicate the QT with Prazipro? I'm planning on leaving the display tank fallow for at least six weeks.

The treatment should be the full seven days. I would also recommend that after the first treatment, you should do a big water change (minimum 50%). Personally, I do a second seven day treatment of Prazipro with my fish.

As far as the dispaly tank, I would recommend that you leave it fallow for a minimum of 10 weeks. In my case, I left my display tank fallow for 12 weeks.

I agree with the multiple treatments of Prazi. Concerning the potential infection, Maracyn 2 is a good treatment to use.

Thanks! :) The bottle I have says to add a dose every 3-5 days, is that what ya'll have done or just one dose for seven days and then a second dose for another sever days?

Are clowns somewhat imune to flukes? Can the fish be treated in the main display tank if no QT tank is available? How do corals and inverts react to the Prazi, a brain and a RBTA specifically? Snails?

In my case, I put the recommended dosage for the amount of water and left it alone for the full seven days. After the seven day treatment, I did a big water change and repeated another seven day treatment. Make sure that you shake the bottle well before adding to your tank.

As far as Clowns being immune to flukes, my guess would be no. The fish can be treated in the display tank, but IMO, a QT tank would be better if available. The Prazipro is reef safe, but you might have issues with feather dusters and Coco worms.

Today is the last day of week two, when I dosed the second dose last week the fish's fins looked tattered again, as if there were still flukes on them after the first treatment, should I do another treatment?

Also would adding a few more cleaner shrimp or cleaner wrasse to the DT help with ridding of any flukes left or that will hatch?
