Hi there,

I just brought a new Proflux Plus 2 controller and i can't get it to connect to my computer.

I download and install the ProfiLuxControl II V4.0.3.0 and try connecting it through both serial and usb but i just can't get it to connect. Yes i have set it to the same com but it just won't connect. I have also try to scan the com from 1-40 but it can't pick up any device.

I have try that on both xp and vista and i still can't connect.....please let me know what else i can do?

Regards

Download the oldest version first (should be able to connect then), and then upgrade to the latest version. I used an ethernet cable and was able to get it upgraded this way. Sounds like you are doing the same thing I did. Hope that helps.

there is no need to downgrade

if you have a ProfiLux with a 4.x firmware you can use the newest ProfiLuxControl

1. check the COM-port in ProfiLuxControl
2. are baudrates the same in ProfiLux device and in ProfiLuxControl

Then it MUST connect

Yes i think the Profilux i have is running 4.0 firmware.

Yes the com port is correct.

Yes the baudrates are set the same. 9600. (I tried all of the different ones as well)

And it is not connecting. (Try both the serial and usb adaptor)

you can check the firmware version on the device: menu extras->support

how is the connection exactly? PLM-USB, serial cable, has your PC a COM-port or are you using a converter?
If you use converter - is this hardware displayed in the windows device manager? COM-port-number? Driver?

Please give me full details.

Did you try "Scan COM..."?

SW-version 4.0

I try to connect through the serial cable plug directly to my computer and on my device manager it is under com 1 9600 baudrates. I set the same thing on my profilux and it doesn't connect.

I went and brought a USB converter to connect to the serial port which is under com 21. Set the same thing on the Profilux and it doesn't connect.

Yes try to scan com 1-40. Can't find any device.

Thanks for your help

have you had a APC UPS connected to your couputer and still have the software running? I was testing a few things at work and that exacly what my problem was....

Are you using OUR serial cable?

sometimes software which accesses USB, COM, bluetooth or IrDA (e.g. for cell phones or navigation systems) causes trouble

Can you try on another PC?

Yes~ the serial cable comes with the kit.

I already try it with my notebook as well which is running vista through USB. (cause my notebook doesn't have a serial port)

I must admit I have not many ideas now.
The RS232 port of the ProfiLux must work - otherwise we would not have been able to download the firmware for the first time.

Please contact your retailer for further support.

Anyway thanks for your help. Don't really want to send it back for a replacement because i brought it overseas as a mail order....

Are you using an RS232 to USB converter? If so these are notoriously unrelaible for any connection over USB.

if so then the option would be to use the PLM-USB GHL USB card this is a rock solid connection.

I tried both. I start off with the serial cable that comes with the controller which didn't work. So i went and brought a USB coverter but that didn't work as well....

Yep as i said, the converters are a real pain with any USB connection

Where you located? I seriously suggest the PLM-USB GHL card, designed specifically for USB connection.

Well...i have the original serial cable from Profilux that "suppose" to work.....only because it didn't work thats why i went and brought the usb adapter but that fail on me as well....

like Michael suggested, the PLM-USB works usually

even better: the LAN-card PLM-LAN, because here you don't have to worry about drivers and you can achieve access from outside (Internet)
