Can't keep Clowns. Why??

Hi. I'm a rookie in the saltwater game. I have a 6 month old 90 gal. tank. Lots of quality live rock and a few corals. Well maintained water quality etc. In the past 3 months I have 2 pairs of clowns that lasted 1-3 weeks per pair. Tried another pair 2 weeks ago, but have lost 1 already and am afraid the last 1 will soon follow. Each pair has been from a different fish store in an effort to weed out poor quality. The rest of the tankmates seem bullet proof. Yellow tang, naso tang, magnificent foxface, bi-colour angel, and banggai cardinals. See no confrontations with the fish. Any thoughts??

were they in the same tank at the store?

On another note Tangs need a six foot tank a 90g is really short. Thats a lot of fish in a new tank too, let things settle for awhile.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, all clown purchases appeared to be a "pair" in the same tank at time of purchase. Both tangs at this point are 2" or less and the angel is 1 1/2" tops. As they grow, hopefully I will have a little more experience and capital to set up a 150. Bill

Are you QT'ing your fish? What are you doing for acclimation?
What are your params with actual numbers?

I would still let things settle down and balance out. Run all tests and see what they are. Maybe add clowns with an anemone after you tank reaches 1 year
