can't tell if it's a bite or some type of infection

my stars and stripes has what appears to be a large bite mark.

it looks like a bite marke as it is round and the skin within the bite mark is rippled.

could this also be some sort of bacterial infection?

so far the fish doesn't seem to be affected by the mark.
