Caprella amphipod good or bad?

I was out fishing in the Laguna Madre of Texas today and grabbed some macro algae. It is full of copepods and amphipds. There are a lot of amphipods in the genus Caprella. The common name is skeleton shrimp. They look crazy but seems like they would be great fish food. Any concerns before I put them in the tank?

Thanks,
Mike

none that i've heard of. note that putting anything in your tank could have diseases or parasites.

This is true. I use natural salt water and local critters to help feed the tank. I my not be on the same level as PaulB, but think the more natural the environment, the better it is.

Thanks for the reply.

Skeleton shrimp are harmless and might actually be pretty cool inhabitants for a nano tank. Your fish will go nuts at the opportunity to snack on those.
Just be sure to check the algae for anything less harmless. There might be baby fish-eating crabs, for one thing.
