Captive Breeding

I saw some Anthias and they looked kind of like funky squirrelfish.

The ones at Gary's had that pink spot on the side. I kind of liked them but the blue tails are prettier.

I have to agree with Paul here. You are very knowledgable in the methodology of breeding many fish species, but saltwater is handled completely differently. The delicate balance is something that is needed to be learned first well before much planning can be done on the breeding end. There are many biological processes beyond the Nitrogen Cycle that needs to take place well before any fish will feel comfortable enough to do its business. As well as those cycles, there is a level of chemistry that one must obtain in order to keep things safe. Any swing in your water chemistry can have negative side effects on adults, eggs, fry, or any combination of the above. I would keep looking at fish that have been bred in the past, but don't put much pressure on it. There is some serious tank husbandry that needs to be learned first.

Ever get one with a "lucky" fin?
I think those usually get eaten by their brothers & sisters. Although someone should correct me and remind is that all clowns start out as males, or females, or whatever...

And btw, Travis, we know by now that you agree with Paul, ok? :)

(jk - that's just a jab at his multiple posts - I mean, no WONDER he current has 5828 posts - I mean, divided by three that's only 1942 - So the way I see it, he is REALLY only barely above me - I wonder if I can get a moderator to fix that... :D )

Well Travis I can see you were trying to triple point this out.:lol2:

I do get that point. Many Cichlids are the same way

Some cichlids will sit in a tank for years and not do anything and then they decide to spawn.

I have some set up in semi permanent setups. As to the SW fish I know it may be years before they do their thing if I make them happy. I will try my best and try to figure this all out. It seems like a number of the breedings were accidental or have no data. I am also bad about not taking data but that is FW and I always have my baseline data to work with.

Yes I did catch it was accidental, my guess would be the computer was acting up and he pushed the enter a few times and it triple posted.

We once had a yahoo glitch that made a message I sent in a yahoo group post 55 times (I kid you not)

 I've seen those glitches before and many double posts, but that's my first triple post :D I only hit Submit once. It's a trouble that this version of vBulletin has.

Only if it was posted an hour ago, and you can only edit the text. Administration has to actually remove the post or change it when the time has expired.

I would say then until then you are suffering from schizophrenia but if you were each of those posts would be different so its more like dujavu

Kevin, I would love to have a short lesson on raising the clowns from you some day. I surely want to try to raise my eggs sometime soon. Are you still using the fake anenomes in the tank with them?

There are a number of dog balls that have knobby extensions. Kevin used one of them and cut it in half so he has two anemones. kush balls would work and you can trim them so they have more open spaces. There are a number of dog toys that have knobs on them and there are tension relever balls that do too.
