Sorry, I'll write my congressman and see if we can't drum up a roadside carnival or the world's largest corn cob for you to look at along the way and see if we can liven things up for ya. :lol:
You're right though, it certainly can't compare with muzzurah's 300 or so Meramac Caverns signs between STL and stanton, MO.

Since I am originally from upstate NY, an area more beautiful than any scenery you'll see in New England (MO or IL), I am an unbiased observer of the midwest. I have to say that there are a few areas of both MO and IL that are worth recommending. Illinois has nice forested parks in both the north and south parts of the state, as well as the Great Lake. Missouri has a huge muddy river and the Ozarks (excluding the pit of a tourist trap known as Lake of the Ozarks). But, the drive from STL to Inland is pretty bland. Even you have to admit that Dave. :frog:

I'm on the phone right now with the prison in Greenville, IL that's right along I-70. They said they'd be happy to put up a little carnival for everyone to check out along the way. They wanted to encourage all the guys to make sure to bring their wives too.
um.......hmmmmmmm
I've also heard rumored that if you stop at that giant cross and throw a rock at it, you'll get struck by lightning. That might have been an exaggeration though, I dunno.....
I was afraid my little messing with Curt would derail the thread...sorry.
FWIW, I was born and raised in central IL farm country, so seeing two trees standing next to each other is a rare sight and enough to keep me happy. There's an overpass just north of Troy I plan on mooning you guys from as you leave that day. woo woooo

Yeah, but we have Lambert's Cafe (Home of Throwed Rolls) and also the Elvis is Alive Museum in Wright City.

Clearly none of you have driven through Nebraska or you'd be going on and on about how fabulous the drive through IL is. :lol:
If you weren't originally planning to attend Inland, you should jump on the bandwagon now just to:
A. Check out the giant viewable-from-three-states cross.
B. See Shooter in the full moon, so to speak.
C. Wave to Greenville's inmates as you pass by.
D. Enjoy the blueberry pancakes at Cracker Barrel.
Did I miss anything? Oh yeah, there's something about some nationally recognized guy giving some presentation inside an enormous warehouse surrounded by thousands of gallons of saltwater, fish and corals, but I'm just going for the road trip.
