I'm looking to pick up a trio of carberryi anthias. I've read posts that indicate there are different color morphs depending on their region. Liveaquaria has them available from Africa and Maldives. Does anybody know the difference from those two regions? Thanks in advance!

i wanted to get 6, but LA told me they could not be sexed. what happens if you get 3 males.

There are two color morphs of carberryi anthias. One is more of a reddish pinkish color with yellow spots on the scales, which I believe is what LA has pictured. The other color morph is purplish violet with yellow on the posterior (top) part of the body, similar to that of evansi anthias. Actually, the purplish violet color morph is a mimic of evansi anthias. I could not tell you if one color morph comes from one region or the other, or not.

I believe they can be sexed, how, I'm unsure.

Thanks Kyle!

they are not easy to care for unfortunetly, Id say the hardest anthias to feed.

It wasn't for me, a lot of people actually have success with Carberryi. Maybe yours wasn't healthy to begin with. If any Anthias is hard, it would be Ventralis or any deepwater species.
