Carbon Effects on Skimmer

I've had a 40G reef tank for 2 years now, and have had a coralife skimmer running on it since the beginning, no problems. I added some carbon to the tank because I was suspecting chemical warfare in the tank. I have run carbon before with no issues, but this time I added some API GAC, and a few hours later, the skimmer was going crazy. It was overflowing, and now there are tons of microbubbles in the tank which I never had before. I rinsed the carbon for a few minutes to get the dust off before hand, and turned the skimmer down, but it just keeps foaming. Any ideas how long this will last? Should I remove the carbon? Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Carbon should not make a skimmer freak out. I would remove the carbon.

I use BRS Lignite. Works great. No impact on skimmer performance.

I would however check the air intake to the skimmer and make sure it is clear. Could be a fluke.

Alright, I'll remove it. I have to say I wasnt impressed with the API stuff, and have not had this issue with other carbons.... Thanks for the input
