Care for a baby perc?

The LFS has a bunch of baby (false)percs and I was thinking about getting one for my work tank (later to be added to my 120 when big enough to get along with everyone).

Right now they are maybe 1.5cm long.
They/it would be the ONLY fish in this tank (JBJ Pico 3gal)

So here is the question...
I can feed them daily (or 2x/day) during the week, but what about the weekends?

Normally Id think that I couldn't, but this tank has been fish-less for 3 months and there is a HUGE population of Amphipods, Isopods, and some other "bugs" that are too small to identify.

Will the baby clown go after these while I'm away for the weekend?

I wouldn't purchase them until after the weekend. These are very small. What is the LFS feeding them ? How much are they charging you for these ?

I think he is saying that every weekend he wouldn't be able to feed it...

I think that the fish is likely to eat some of the little critters when you aren't there to feed it on the weekends, but in a small tank I think the fish would eliminate the population pretty quickly, and then what? How large is the tank?

On the other hand, nearly all of my fish can go several days without being fed, including some of my juvie clowns. Hopefully others will chime in also with their opinions....

Yes... Hopefully they will. ;)

It is a 3g JBJ Pico with a 1.5in sand bed, 8-10lbs of live rock, a few shrooms, Zoos, and a mini frogspawn.

The glass is literally covered in bugs.
Right now I can see about 500 mystery pods (too small to identify)
8 Amphipods, and 10 Isopods (the good ones)
Obviously there are many more in the rockwork.

$10 each
LFS started them on Cyclopeze, now onto VERY small pellets.

I have Cyclopeze flakes here at work already from the previous inhabitant.

I put a small tank with two ocellaris clowns at my daughters school for about 10 weeks while they were doing work on the Ocean. I set them up with an auto feeder which the teacher set up each Friday afternoon. Even with the stress of about 35 seven year olds the clowns thrived. I supplied them with good quality flake food which I broke up in a blender and the clowns had no problems over the weekends.

I like the auto feeder Idea for juvies that small. It makes me wonder about a lfs that sells fish that small.. They are pretty resilient little buggers one they go through meta so it should be ok. If you can't / don't want to do a auto feeder I'd just feed him before you go and then again as soon as you get back. Adult fish can go a week without a meal and be no worse off. I don't see why a juvie couldn't tough it out for the weekend if need be.
