Care magnet blade rusting?

So I purchased a Tunze Care magnet long about 6 months ago. I rarely use it with the metal blade, but a week ago I put the blade to clean some tough spots. I went out of town the next day for 4 days, and returned to find the blade rusted and left a nice little rust spot on the front of my glass where I had parked it.

What gives? I know multiple people who have left this blade on the magnet for months and have had no problems.

Unfortunately, while we use the best stainless blades available (Made in Solingen Germany) they are not impervious to rust, they are particularly prone to rusting if some air is present on the blade or it is partially submerged. Stainless is protected by the flow of molybdenum and chromium ions in the metal, coverings, air/water mixtures, can affect the corrosion protection. The best practice is to remove the stainless blade after use and rinse it with fresh water.
