caring for a rhizo

I recently picked up a rhizo and am definitely interested in getting this guy as fat and happy as I can and hopefully breeding it. I looked into it a little bit and I know that they produce eggs that eventually form into a new rhizo and do not require a partner, but has anyone out there tried this before? Is it a very hard process and what all is required? Any info on some good practices on care and info on breeding would be very much appreciated.

They produce eggs? Never heard of rhizos producing eggs...I thought they reproduce like dendros in which a baby starts coming out on the side..

I think you really needed to do research before buying one of these, unless you got great deal.

I don't have any experience with sexually reproducing rhizos, but I would expect it to be as hard, if not harder, than breeding other LPS corals, not to mention raising the babies.

I also noticed on Jendub's site that it doesn't say specifically that the pics of the egg forming from the Japanese site is actually of Rhizotrochus typus, just a rhizo. I can't read Japanese either. =/
There's a few different species of Rhizos and not all are solitary. I would be interested in hearing more of what Jen thinks about it.

By the way acerr, can you post a pic of yours?

Read jendubs blog and wow, what an interesting read. It would be interesting to hear from someone who has raised some rhizo babies. Perhaps rhizos are so expensive because they are rare and hard to get them to reproduce.
