Carnation strawberry Anemone

I'm having some trouble finding out good information on this anemone. Do they rely on light or strictly meat eaters? Where are they found? What are the ideal conditions for it to survive in my tank? Thanks for your help in advance.

From what I have been told they are actually Heteractis Aurora anemones, and the yellow in the tentacles is dyed and will dissappear over time if it survives.

It appears to be doing great in my tank just still haven't found a abundance of information on this thing. I really like it though.

OK... Not H. Aurora, they have orange or red bases. Maybe H. Malu? I say this because it looks like it has rows of smaller tentacles in the folds closer to the mouth. Either that or H. Crispa. FWIW, "Carnation Anemone" is not the name of a specific anemone, just a common trade name, like "Sebae Anemone" and can be used to describe multiple types of anemone. The color is going to change over the next few months, FYI. And I would recommend feeding it a couple time a week until it at least starts to open up bigger. It will not bunch up into big folds all the time when settled and healthy, then a proper ID will be easier.

He really isn't very sticky and wasn't eating much is any. I'm hoping he isn't sick. I'm hoping he is just full. But I'll get him nursed and doing well. Just might take time.

For that guy I would reccommend feeding very small pieces no more than every other day. Every other day is good because it gives the nem a chance to rest and digest between meals. Small pieces are best because they are easier to digest. Good luck!

Today when checking on him he was upside down. It looks like he was trying to grab a current and move or he just isn't attaching himself for some reason. Anyone have one of these guys?

Glad to hear it. Sounds like he's turned the corner. As long as your tank stays healthy, he should grow to be about a foot or more wide, but the tentacles will probably turn tan or brown over time.
