you should have it on the rocks, it may be bleached out a little, but it should be there. if the rock is LR. it can take months for coralline to really take off. the key to getting it going is first have some in the tank 
and make sure your calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium levels are all in check. but trust me once you start getting it all over the glass, you will be griping about it like the rest of us LOL.

You need to check calcium/alk/mag and keep them stable and you should have some growth.
It will take at least six months before base rock gets much of a covering in a well maintained tank. Poor water quality in regard to nitrate and phosphate can make it take off in some cases but it will also spawn much undesirable algae as well.

fitst you will notice a light green coating on areas of the rock, this will turn into coraline
i have had a 20g tall reef running for 7 months and my coraline has covered 80 percent of the back of the tank. Make sure you keep you alk/Ca levels up to promote growth as well. but this can be managed by constant water changes due to your new tank not in high demand of alk and Ca. but when you get corals like sps etc... you might look into a 2 part suppliment and a kalkwasser drip system 2 keep things stable

Sorry Rafa, Purple up is just a placebo. It really is a waste of money and can, if over used, do harm. Go to the Chemistry forum for a breakdown of what is in it.

What thread over there breaks down Purple Up? I've been using it for a while and wondered myself if it was all BS. Can you point me in the right direction? I can't seem to find the info.

As I understand it is a form of calcium that will not dissolve in your tank thus rendering it useless.
If you go into the chemistry forum you can ask Boomer or Bertroni and they can explain it very clearly for you.
But lets get back to the coralline. I asked about it alot and now it's a scurge. It createa a whole lot more maintenance and work. I would just concentrate on keeping your water parameters stable and the water as pure as possible. The coralline will start. It just takes what most folks don't have a lot of and that is patience.

How important is magnesium for corraline?
Also, for people complaining about too much on the glass, would this work?:
I've heard that base rock is a corraline magnet, so what if you filled your sump with base rock to give the corraline something to attach to instead of the glass? Then you could swap the base rock out for clean rock and cycle them back and forth like that, or sell the encrusted base rock.
