I have two flasher wrasses in my 55, one a carpenter and the other I dont have an ID on and my carpenter periodically jolts to the other one once in a while causing it to slam into the glass top i have. its new hiding/chilling spot is under the overhang of my HOB filter. there doesnt seem to by any nipping of fins but I am afraid of the wrasse hurting itself from slamming into the glass top. It trys to swim around but when it sees the carpenter wrasse it just gets scared even when the carpenter is on the other side of the tank. Funny thing is one time I saw the carpenter go near the other wrasse and my little black clown goby chased it away and protected the other wrasse lol. anyway the wrasses have been in the tank for a little over a week. Should I be concerned? can they coexist? I hope so because they are so beautiful I would hate to choose between the two and part from one. here is a picture of the other wrasse.

Looks like you have a male filamented flasher wrasse along with the carpenters flasher wrasse. Both are nice looking fish. I have a somewhat similar situation with a royal flasher wrasse and a red tail flasher wrasse, but they are in a 150 so it is not too bad. I had ordered the red tail as a pair, but the female came in DOA. I am looking for a female or two on the hope it will re-direct the bully's attention.

It may be best to remove the bully to quarantine for a while and then re-introducing him later. Using an acclimation box when moving him back may help as well.

Good luck.

Unrelated but you can orient your heater horizontally and hide it down behind your rock work. Beautiful wrasse.

It's only been a week. They may work it out. Maybe add a different type fish to draw thier attention. I added a royal gramma and golden midas. If you can find some girls get them.
