Hello,

where is a good place online to find Carpet Anemones and also any other type of anemones. Thank you

check your LFS first.
otherwise
Dr.F&S
reefhotspot
pacific east aquaculture
those are good place to get them.

I have never ordered from other places recently, but i ordered from Dr. Mac just last week (Pacific East Aquacultured) . It's far and beyond my expectation - let me tell you i am not a person who praise people easily so to earn my praise you have to sweat in tears to earn it. PACIFIC EAST IS ONE PLACE I WOULD PUT MY TRUST AND SPEND MY MONEY ON.

Sometime you might find the price is a bit higher ( i said sometime) but the quality is so dead on and the service is even better.

Cherry Coral I have purchased healthy Giganteas from them.
Not so lucky from PACIFIC EAST THEY BOTH DIDN'T LAST

you didnt happen got the red carpet?

I currently have 5 Haddonis in my care
1 came from a local reefer
2 of them came from the Diver's Den section of LA -- the oldest being 3+ years old
2 of them came from an LFS -- the oldest being 10+ years old

If ordering online I personally would only go with a place that has a WYSIWYG, and sort of guarantee, ideally more then 7 days, since it seems that it can take that long for them to die if stressed from shipping.

all 5 in the same system? I have 3 - blue, green and red and hope they dont kill each other chemically. Green and blue been together for 5 years, recently added a red. hope the red will not be killed by the other 2 by their chemical.

Thanks guys and you can't have different type in the same aquarium? Like a Red, Blue and Green?

If they are the same species, it doesn't matter, they can even touch.

And a older picture when I was redoing some rock work, the blue and tan one weren't effected by touching.

How do I know if they are the same specie? Sorry but Im knew to this... I have a GBTA and Im getting a RBTA... can have those together with the carpet anemone? Whats the best Specie of carpets?

Eric,

I can't help you disect the different between Gigs and Haddonis, but i can tell you Rose BTA and GBTA would get along fine and even touch each other w/o any issues, that is from my own personal expereince and from seeing pics of people with mix BTA colors.

Second, i do have a tank with loads of rose , green BTAs and now 3 carpets (red, blue and green). I have had all the BTAs and 2 carpets in the same system for at least 5,6,7 years and there is no problem whatsoever. now i just added the red carpet, so let's wait and see.............

Haddonis and Gigs (( S. gigantea )) are the 2 most common hosting "carpet" anemones. Haddonis will have shorter tentacles, and will have fairly smooth undersides of the oral disc. Gigs will have "bumps"/Verrucae. In addition, most of the time Haddonis will be found on/in the sand bed, whereas Gigs will be on the rocks.

I personally don't like mixing different species of anemones in the same tank. When I had BTAs and a Hadddoni together the Haddoni wasn't fully staying put. Right after I removed the BTAs it stopped moving and just "looked" better.

"Best" is a subjective term, and I am partial to Haddonis. IMO, they are a bit easier to keep then Gigs -- at least as far as finding healthy ones. While lately it has seemed that Haddonis are poor shippers, Gigs are worse.

Hey guys,

Im having trouble finding Carpet Anemones... I can't find any online or at my LFS... Where can I get one.
