Carpet Gigantia help! Color faded, 1/4th its size

As far as getting stung goes, there are several things you can do to minimize the affect of the sting when it happens. The toxin is a protein so if you can denature it, it loses its strength. If you don't get it quickly the treatments won't help because the discomfort comes from your body's reaction and not the toxic itself (which is why the hydrocortisone helps).

1. Run the sting under the hottest water you can stand (without burning yourself). This might not be the best option for a sensitive area like the inside of your forearm (which is the most reactive area IME).

2. Coat the area with Meat tenderizer. It may sound funny, but ocean lifeguards carry it in their first aid kits for jelly fish stings. Papaya or pineapple might work also.

3. Urinate on the sting. (eeew, I know, but it works)

4. Soak it in vinegar. This doesn't seem to work as well for me, and is only convenient for fingers, not so easy for a forearm.

That is a nasty sting. I had a haddoni get me on the inside of my forearm once when I was removing it from a tank. The welt lasted about 2 weeks. I actually thought I was going to end up with a scar, but I didn't.
