Not sure of the type of carpet this is. It has blue / purple spots under it on the column. It is starting to "color up" on some of the tenticels. (sp?) I got it free so it was a good deal, lol.

The tenticles seem to be always wiggleing if that helps. If you need pics of the underside, I can get them.

Thank you

I would guess gigantea. Wiggly tentacles are consistent with that species, as well as the general appearance. A pic of the column would provide more info.

here are pics of the column and spots. I hope that helps.

That is a stressed Gigantia. Try to get him to attach to the rock high up in your tank, with good flow. They usually avoid sand bed.

Thanks. I read the anemone facts and it stated rock or sandbed. I did move it up to about mid way in the tank. It came out of a 75g tank with 4-t5's and now has 2-250w MH's over it. I did not want to put it too close to the lights untill it can adjust to the higher lighting. I do have lots of flow in the tank, so that is covered.

The same LFS has a HUGE Ritteri in the same tank. I have a hold on it, untill I see how it does. Mouth was too open for me to take it home today. It was also inflating and deflating over the last 24 hrs. The LFS just got it in on Thursday so it could just be shipping stress. My last Ritteri I sold after 2 years since I quit reefing and got into seahorses. Now I'm back to reefing and starting all over :)

My gigs hang around the rock/sand interface....try to keep things stable and not change too many things if the nem looks stressed. Keeping things consistent will be the best medicine you can provide.

Thank you for the additional pics, yeah gigantea it is. Research and inquire on here, once they settle in and become established they're pretty resilient, but at first it's touch-and-go.

The anemone is now off of the clam shell it was originally attached to. It only moved about 2 inches to attach to the rock the shell was sitting on. It has eaten PE mysis and looks good so far. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I have 2 small clowns that I have been keeping away from the anemome untill it seemed to settle in. Should I let them have access to the anemone yet?

If the clowns are small, it shouldn't be a problem, and may actually be beneficial to the anemone as it acclimates. If the clowns seem to be too rough for it, e.g. the anemone appears shrunken or stays closed, then remove them again.

The clowns are very small...Quarter size maybe. Small clowns for small anemone. They are now in the tank with the previously posted anemone. I also added my green Gigantea to this tank. This way they can host either one.....they keep going from the green to the very pale blue and back to the green again. The green has been around since it was about the size of a 50 cent piece.

If your green has been in the tank for a long time and is doing good, I would really keep an eye on the stressed and bleached one. You don't want the sick nem take your healthy one with it when it dies.
Both are gigantea. Green looks to be healthy but the pale white/yellow bleached.

Thanks. The green did not look like that when I got it, lol. It was bleached as well. Not as bad, but bleached just the same. I kept it under t5's then moved it to Halides once is started to color up. I'm not sure if the newest bleached one is going to make it, looking sad today. Thankfully the clowns have not gone near it since yesterday. They are to busy "loving" their green gigantea to worry about the new one.

There is plenty of flow in the tank now, but I'm adding 2 more Koralia 3's to the tank this weekend. I may have to worry about keeping the sandbed in place once I add them, lol.
