Carpet nem

So I had a carpet nem and it was fine in the beginning, positioned itself where it liked and didn't move until it died. Which is what I'm curious about. I fed it small cuts of squid which it took with no problem, so I don't think it was diet related. I came home one day and found "Mush" all extruded and dead. My regular water tests always showed perfect / near perfect water. I performed weekend water changes. Anyone have any idea why it died?

What kind of carpet? What size tank and parameters? How long did you have it? Any recent changes?

Was it possible that household cleaning products were used near it. in the air could have done it. Early in my reefkeeping that happened and my tank crashed by morning.

26g Bowfront tank, standard carpet nem I guess, the guy at the LFS didn't really go into detail about it. I had it a few weeks only no changes

It wasnt good that u didn't know what kind of carpet u were buying. But any carpet anemone will get big. A 29 gallon isn't big enough. Did u have the light to support it? What is perfect water parameters? U need to give more details.

This was a few days before it let go of the glass and pretty much just died. To be fair, the LFS guy never told me they get very big or require special lighting.

when you took it out did it smell rotten? could it have just been deflated after a feeding?

I agree with Ron, the spots on the column appear to be a drab olive color
