Hello fellow Reef-lovers :spin3:

Here is all about my new project

After owning a few tanks with various sizes as well as trying a few methods, i thought i do something completely different to what i have always been doing!!!

It s always been my dream to own a very big tank, but i have never had the means. After "studying" hard, chatting with reefs experts and soaking in info about everything concerning the marine environment, Im ready to get salty!!:bounce1::bounce1:

My original project and tank have been put on hold recently due to a long delay with the modernisation of my place, and waiting time sometimes can be dangerous!

In my mind i started envisioning a tank and the idea started growing in size by the day... so i have now finalised it with this size and features:

DT: 2500mm x 1000mm x 620mm(water level) - 8.33ft x 3.33ft x 2.02ft(water level)

Sump: still in design stage as it will be in a sump/fish room which will involve Refugium, Frag tank, settlement tank and so on.

Some equipments have been purchased in order not to be too painful on my pocket ..:bum:

Skimmer: RE Bubble King SM300 +RD3 Speedy
CA Reactor: Dastaco Extreme A4
Return Pump: Blue Eco 240 marine

Any advise/ suggestion/ help is more than welcome!

Ok this is how all started...

Walls needed to be rendered and skimmed so its was ideal to have a hole in the wall:eek1:

This is the wall i planned for the tank to sit on with the back being the garage..

And i thought i have the a natural brick feature around it... but due to the cement work on the top right hand corner we would have had to bring the hole wall down and re brick it so it comes out uniformed.... so plans changed

I forgot that window also needed to be blocked off... the house was build in 1930's

and the wall started to come down, unfortunately as the length of the the hole was bigger than a standard lintel we had to use a RSJ and to make it worse we had to use a bigger one due to it being external wall so double brick and 12inches

It was a scary site as the whole house was in a mess, walls being moved and holes being cut out...

But it become more promising when it got to this stage :roll eyes:

I made a mistake not leaving a bit more gap on each sides for the cleaning so this will be a struggle using a step ladder... however i couldn't go higher as the garage ceiling is lower than normal so i would have had lighting issue's or lower as would have had viewing problems from the living room...

So have to do something for the lighting problem i will face due to the 12inches brick wall where the tank will sit. I could avoid this if i have the tank further back but it is a lot nicer to have it flush with the wall... so we will have to see!

Very true but when you see the walls coming down in front of your eyes it is scary also :hmm5:

The thought of the fuses tripping always freaks me out so i got a separate consumer unit

And this has enough fuses to keep everything completely separate in the sump room!

I had to sort out the measuring for the stand, as i wanted a stand made to measure to have a more cleaner cut (personal choice), however i did not realise it will be 120cm high therefore i might have to go down the breeze block and RSJ route which is also good and very solid but it will be slightly bulky...

Also to make it more difficult ... i should know better nothing comes easy!! there is a slope of 3cm which you can see in the pictures below with the hight write in different stages!
