Cassiopeia xamachana stings

Went wading in the backwaters of the Gulf of Mexico today. There were hundreds, no thousands, of jellyfish. And some stung me before I hightailed it out of the water. It's been several hours later and there's still a tingly feeling. Am I going to wake up with severe swelling or to discover both my feet have fallen off ?

I heard if you pee on it it helps.

I'll pass on that plan

Just goes with the turf of being able to collect on and enjoy the reefs, I get stung on almost a daily basis, largely in part thanks to jet skiers who chew up the jellys and then I get to swim through the millions of stinging cells left in the water, am covered in stings now as I type..lol, itchy as all heck, but it goes away after a day or two.

Not too big a deal. If you were going to have a bad reaction it wouldve happened by now. Vinegar will help (as will the peeing idea) I work in the water in Tampa Bay and it happens to me all of the time. try not to touch it as that will cause any nematocysts left on the skin to fire, starting the whole thing over again. (vinegar and urine neutralize the nematocysts AND the venom although vinegar smells slightly better)

wear a dive skin or pantyhose on legs, arms, torso. The nematocysts are too small and cant penetrate to the skin.
