cat5 to usb for extension

While looking around monoprice I found this dandy little piece of equipment. I have a TON of cat5 cables laying around and I am tempted to try this for an extension.

Anyone see any problems?

USB Extender over CAT5E or CAT6 Connection up to 150ft

It will not let me post a pic but the description explains it pretty well. You use a cat 5 cable with USB tips at the ends...

Except that the Apex doesn't actually run "USB". If you had a longer cable or extensions you may be fine because you'd simply be extending the signal of the Apex. However, using a device that effectively relays/repeats USB protocol signals is likely to break when plugged into a Apex and who knows what you'll do to the Apex.

Thanks! It is only $14 to order the correct extenders so I will do that instead.

I just have A LOT of cat 5 laying around.
