Catching a Blue Regal Tang in a reef tank

Does anyone have experience in catching a Regal Tang in a reef tank? I have a 40 gallon tank loaded with corals, and breaking down the tank to catch the Tang isn't an option. The reason I want to catch it is that it kills any fish I put in there, aside from a Flame Angel, which died during a power outage. It is very territorial, and I think it just needs a larger tank. I can't add any more fish, in fear that the Tang will kill them all. Any suggestions?

p.s. I don't have a fish trap, and I'm not sure I could fit it in my tank anyway.

I feel very sorry for that fish. It certainly does need a larger tank. How large is the tang?

If you don't have room for a fish trap (I can only imagine how cramped that tang must feel) I would expect the only thing you can do is take the rock apart to catch him.

Start feeding the tang with a net in the tank, it might take a few weeks but i can get my saifin tang to eventually eat food out the inside of the net, pretty brave fish if you ask me! The regal might be to skittish but its worth a try it takes about 2 weeks

I was attempting to trap cleaner shrimp and caught my purple and naso tangs at the same time in a trap I made out of a two liter bottle with the top cut off.
Once they went in it took about 10 minutes for them to find their way back out.
That may work if you have room.
good luck

use a fishing hook, size 22 with the barb pinched down baited with a piece of shrimp. You'll catch him in about a minute and a half with minimal damage to the fish.

Thanks for your help everyone!!! I guess I'm going to have to go through each suggestion, and make it trial and error.

Thanks again!

someone asked this before and you're supposed to catch it like everyone else does....cyanide.

j/k ;)
