catching mantis in tough location

I want to try the bottle trick to catch one in my tank. I've read on this site that it has to be quite close to the rock they are in.

My rock work prevents that and NO I'm not going to move it. Too difficult and too many corals.

Also, what are some of the better baits to use? Is there somehting they can't resist to make them take a little trip to the trap?

Hear clicking quite often but have never seen him. See the empty shells at the bottom of the back of tank.

you could always cut up the bottle so its shorter..

Are you using a 2 liter? If you are, why not try a regular water bottle?

how does the bottle trick work? what does that consist of?

for me a hose worked well, I put one end of a clear hose by the entrance of the mantis hole and the other end outside of the tank with a bucket when the mantis came peeking to see what was going on I sucked it out
