Cats and reef tanks

when i had my 300g empty in the livingroom my 2 cats would go in and lay in it or hangout in it. but once i filled it with water and started cycling it only took one time for a cat to almost fall in it and thats it they dont get close to the top anymore. they like staring at it or pawing at my scooter blennies form the outside

I would definitely cover the tanks at least while they are still kittens. They are curious and clumsy, and how sad would you be if you came home to a waterlogged, dead kitten? You're the parent now, you've got to kitten proof the house just like you would for a human baby.

I have adult cats who actually aren't interested in the fish (I think she knows she can't catch them), but instead they go after the soft coral that sway in the current. She has pulled out a nice, big piece of green sinularia and I found it dried up on the floor.
