IME the worries about Caulerpa going sexual are just that, worries.
I just yanked a 6"x4" patch of C. sertularoides fa. farlowii that had gone clear from my 29G tank.....which is similar to experiences I've had in the past. Nothing in the tank showed any negative responses.
Unless your tank is completely overrun by Caulerpa that sporulates, I don't think it's a problem.
I've had more problems with Chaeto overgrowing my 'fuge, fragging itself, ending up in the tank and annoying the corals. The only real benefit (it's a big benefit!) I see to Chaeto is that mini-brittle stars, Stomatella, and pods seem to love it.
