Just to let you know the replacement cauliflower and fire ship arrived in good shape. The three certified captive grown corals i ordered also arrived in good shape. I just finished acclimating them and all is well. The captive corals came with alot of pods on them. I will keep you updated on their health. Thanks for the great corals and standing behind your products!!

Just one concern I have is the fire shrimp had molted during shipping. Do you think they may be a problem? The fire shrimp is doing ok in the tank right now. Thanks again.

Molting during shipment should not be a problem for the fire shrimp as long as you acclimate the shrimp properly. It is most likely that it was just ready to molt. If you are not familiar with the molting of a shrimp, it is not uncommon for them to hide for the next several days, as this is their most vulnerable time. After a molt, they take a few days for the new exoskeleton to harden so make sure your iodine levels are adequate and he has enough hiding places throughout your aquarium where he can get away.

Thanks. The fire shrimp is doing great!!!
I just noticed on the cauliflower coral that one of the branches has been damaged and is waving around in the current. The color of the coral is fine. It is still droopy but I expect that to be for a awhile. Do you think the coral will be fine with the branch being damaged? The rest of the corals are opening up great. I hate like heck for this one to go down.
Thank you.

Brian

Brian,

We are sorry to hear that one of the branches is damaged. We would recommend watching it closely for any signs of further deterioration. It is a possibility that in keeping water movement within that area at a moderate rate, which it sounds like you are providing at this time, the coral should heal on itââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s own. If you notice that the coral is showing signs of further deterioration, we would recommend an iodine dip, following manufacturerââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s instructions.

If you have further concerns with this or other corals in your aquarium, or further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at 1-800-334-3699.

Hello Brian,
Please attempt to save the coral and do not worry about the guarantee expiring at 14 days . If something happens beyond that time we will still honor our commitment and replace the coral, credit your account or send a refund , whichever you prefer.
Thank you Leah for the advice .

Thanks again Brian-------Race

I will definately try and save the coral. Do you think it will be ok? Its got great color but its droopy. I do realize it may take a few days for it to acclimate 100% to my tank, but most times it only takes a couple of hours for the corals to fully open up. I will keep you inform and post some pictures if it starts to decline. Thanks again for standing by your live goods.

Brian

Thanks Brian ,
I cannot say for sure if it will be o.k. . Hopefully it will improve over the next couple days as it becomes accustomed to your aquarium . Please keep us informed and again I appreciate your efforts.

Thanks, Race

With proper water parameters and care, the coral could still survive. I actually have a colt coral in my tank and notice that it will sometimes droop towards evening before the lights go out. It is also not uncommon for it to droop while acclimating to the aquarium. Drooping in the aquarium is not necessarily a sign that it is unhealthy or dying. You may try placing it in other areas of your aquarium with different water flows and watch for any reaction from the coral.

If you would like to provide us with a picture of the coral, we would be more than happy to review it at which time we can give you more accurate information.

As for the branch, which has fallen off: if this branch is healthy enough, it can be tied to another piece of rock, which would potentially provide you with another coral. If a small portion of the base is not healthy enough, this can be fragged with a pair of sterilized scissors and then attached to another piece of rock. I have used 20-pound test fishing line, tying it just tight enough so the coral will not fall from the rock, but not too tight that you are cutting into the flesh. Please keep us updated with the progress and health of this coral. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us again.

I put a picture of the cauliflower in my gallery. Its the first picture. Its hard to tell by the picture that its droopy but you can see that the color is great still. Hopefully by morning it will start to stand up. I looked over the whole coral and and cant even see where the branch fell off, so thats got to be good news. Thanks again for your help and I will keep you updated.

The colt still has good color this morning, but is still droopy. All poylps are out , but it looks like another branch is going to break off. If it does I will try and save the branch this time. Can I superglue it to a piece of rock or do I have to tie it?
Thanks,

Brian

Brian,

Thank you for your post. We would not recommend using Super Glue to attach the branch to the rock, as it is possible to burn the flesh of the coral with the glue. It is recommended to use a heavy line such as double braided ice fishing line or a heavy carpet thread to attach it to a piece of rock.

Just an update on the colt. It still has good color but there is a few bleach white spots on it and its still droopy. So far three branches of it has fallen off. I think its a matter of time, but I will continue to try and save it.

I just put two new pictures of it in my gallery. Please take a look and tell me what you think. The first two top pictures are the new pitcures and the third top one is what it looked liked when it arrived. You can see how its starting to wither away. I still have hope though. Will keep you informed.

Thanks,

Brian

Brian,

We certainly appreciate the extraordinary efforts you have put forth to aid in the survival of the colt corals. We feel this dedication to the well being of the animals should be rewarded to encourage this type of responsible concern for marine life. In addition to the reship, we have placed a credit on your file for the cost of the animal and as well as the entire shipping costs on your original order. Again, our thanks to you for the effort you have extended to this coral; you exemplify the dedication of the aquatic hobbyist.
