Hi there,
I had a true pair caught by Cairns Marine in the coral sea. The big male was in captivity just over two years, and the smaller but tenacious female for 20 months.
If yours has been handled well and arrived in good condition, it may still take some time to learn to eat aquarium food. FWIW the young female was quarantined with Ventralis anthias, whom she instantly recognised and would boss around. After about a fortnight she learned to eat live brine, and frozen food about a month later.
The male, OTOH, was large and very stubborn. He subsisted on various corals eg trachyphyllia, which I was happy to give him rather than see him starve. It took a few months for him to learn to eat live brine, occasional live blackworms. It was only much later another fish introduced him to nori and other algae, and various frozen mixes, which both fish eventually ate with gusto. To sum up, it took a long time to acclimate them to captive conditions, but it was well worth the effort IMO and most of their tank mates were relatively passive fish. They were my favourite pygmy angels and I still miss them.
Good luck with yours - they're a very personable and intriguing fish.
PS yes, the male in particular didn't like temperatures above 25C. YMMV
